It’s been a while
since I made an addition to this little blog and if Krystle is getting caught
up on her posts I may as well too. I think my favorite memory so far
from Krystle’s pregnancy is when she asked me to run up to the store with her,
I think to buy spray paint to match the bedding…No idea what her intentions
were, but for some reason she felt it was extremely important. I was
tired and had a long day so I told her “why don’t you just go without
me.” She started crying, so I went to console her and I asked why
she was crying and her exact words were “I don’t know!” It has unquestionably
been a journey and a learning experience for the two of us. I know
the circumstances of the move and renovations have been tough on her, wanting
to contribute with the move, working around the houses, and all in all doing tasks/chores
she normally would.
I think I was
most appreciative that during the big move day she was left only to point out
where things should go and nothing more. We had so much help from family
and friends that we were able to get all of the big possessions knocked out and
were done moving houses by noon. With 3 utility trailers and a gooseneck
cattle trailer, we undeniably made an impression coming into the new
neighborhood. One of our neighbors even came over and brought us
banana bread (sliced into cubes!). They were an older couple and
Krystle was convinced they were politely being nosy and scoping out the
progress and our things. We love the new
place, but poor little Scarlett might be living in a work in progress for some
time. We bought the place with no appliances, no light fixtures, no
working a/c, holes in the walls, holes in the ceilings, and desperately needing
paint. In the last two weeks we got just about everything situated
so that we can live upstairs while we work on a few finishing touches
downstairs.
I created some
pretty difficult deadlines for us to adhere to, and they aren’t done yet. We
already have the lease signed for the old house for Sept 1 but they want to
move in the weekend of the 25th…of August. I’m
trying to make that happen for them, but we’ll see. So for the
remainder of this month most of my spare time will be back over at the old
place getting it cleaned up and making repairs for our new tenants. However
this weekend we are just going to put everything aside and go spend some time
at the beach…we both could use the break.
After I get the house ready for the renters,
it’s back to working on the new place and getting as much done as possible
before the little one arrives. To say it’s been a little stressful
might be an understatement, but it’s mostly self-induced. It will
all be well worth the effort here soon!!
A few progress pictures...
Scarlett's room before- The owners had painted on top of wall paper so the pink was peeling off the wall.
Holes in walls patched, ceiling painted, walls retextured
Breaking before carpets were scheduled to be cleaned...and admiring my work.
Front of the
house with all exterior lights functioning...
Back to work…
