The First Month

Baby Scarlett turned one month old on October 24th!
Weight/Length: 9 lbs 3 oz 20.5” long

Physical Changes/Looks: Scarlett was born with a “stork bite” and “angel kisses” on her face.  They have already started to fade and the doctor says they should be faded by the time she is 6 months old…they still come back when she gets fussy though!

Sizes Clothing/Diaper: When she was about 3 weeks old she started getting to long for her newborn clothes and her 0-3 month old clothes became a better fit. About 3-4 weeks of age she moved up to a size 1 diaper as well…the newborns fit but can’t quite old what this little thing produces.

New Sounds/Movements: Scarlett discovered her voice around 4 weeks and loves to hear herself! She even sounds like she is saying “Hi” occasionally in the morning…I know she’s not but it sure is entertaining to us! She also gets really excited and shakes her arms and coos when she hears Taylor Swift and Rihanna!
Her skills on holding her head up are improving and she holds it up the longest if she is staring at a face or the color red!

Sleeping: Scarlett’s sleeping is getting better she started getting her last bottle at about 10 and that lasts her until 3 am…only problem is she wants to get up and party! During the day we work on not letting her sleep longer than 2 hours at a time…the doctor said this will help her know the difference from night and day!

Eating: At her first doctor appointment Scarlett was only down to 1.5 ounces from original birth weight. At her second doctor appointment she was over birth weight by 8 ounces! This meant we don’t have to go back until her 2 month appointment where she will get her first round of shots L.  She eats 3-3.5 ounces every 3 hours except at night…we don’t wake the sleeping baby!

Typical Day: Right now her typical day mostly consists of eating, sleeping, and pooping…I try to keep her awake by changing her clothes and putting her on the play mat for tummy time.

Special Memories: Currently we are enjoying her coos, the faces she makes, and counting the hours of sleep we get at night…its exciting when they increase!!!

Play: Since she is so young she doesn’t do much playing, but she does like to look around. Right now she loves the living room lamps, anything red, and the plum butterflies in her crib.  She doesn’t love her swing or play mat much right now, but she is getting accustomed to them...She prefers for her little bug bouncer to move the swing instead!

Special Outings: Scarlett has gone all sorts of places during her first month, including simple places like Target and the grocery store, as well as patio dinners, Quitman, TX  and the State Fair of Texas!

  2. I can't believe she's a month old already. So cute she's talking to herself and loving music. At least she has good taste :) We also went by the theory of never waking her to feed over night and I think it really helped. And its great you are taking her places and getting her use to being out. I also think that stays with them as they get older. Can't wait to see her again!!
