Products I Love

I now have four friends that are pregnant and I felt like I was constantly keeping a mental list of what to suggest and what not to waste money on…so why not blog about it!

I know there are all sorts of top ten lists and best seller items, but if I’ve learned anything the last month it’s that there is an abundance of products out there and you don’t need half of them!

Avent Soothie- If you plan to give your baby a pacifier, this is the one.  I probably have $20-$30 worth of pacifiers that Scarlett does not like, this is one of two that she does!

I bought a second one at a used kids store (for $27) that is vinyl for travel and to have in other rooms of the house- keeps baby at an incline which is great for after feeding- reduces spit up and reflux

Swing Only- Don’t waste your money on a bouncer -Instead the Eddie Bauer vibrating bug so she can just vibrate in her swing and makes it more dual purpose- we went gender neutral and got the my little lamb swing

If  you feel like you just need a bouncer, they make a newborn to toddler convertible chair and baby can use it until they are nearly 2- Scarlett has one out at my mom’s

Ubbi Diaper Pail- Takes standard trash bags so it’s totally worth the investment instead of having to replace with Munchkin or Diaper Genie specialty bags…If Scarlett’s bedroom wasn’t upstairs I would probably just use our regular trash can, but I’m not walking downstairs every time I change a diaper!

Aiden & Anais Products- LOVE them!

Aden & Anais Swaddle Blankets- So much bigger than receiving blankets, and they are breathable- I’ve picked Scarlett up in the middle of the night and she used to feel sweaty in her Velcro swaddle by Summer…I would have only registered for these had I known they existed

Swaddle Sacks- Get the Aden & Anais ones or the Halo SleepSacks both zip up but the Halo SleepSacks you can either Velcro their arms down into a swaddle or Velcro the “wings” with arms out and still give them the feeling of being secure or held/hugged

Homedics- White Noise, Ocean, & Heart beat sounds the simple 9.99 one
Play Gym/mat- She loves that she can reach the toys that hang down Regardless get one that you can still use after baby is able to sit up

Burp Cloths-If someone can make them- perfect- Shane’s grandma made ours and is totally worth it because we use them so often we can’t seem to keep them clean- the receiving blankets are just too big...and I’m sewing challenged and cannot convert ours into burp cloths.

Desitin
Formula- Get the Gentlease!
If pumping-Medela bottle set

Car seat protector straps- here is where I ordered mine http://www.etsy.com/shop/taramcwilliams?section_id=7181227

Ergo Carrier- I love mine! Great feeling to get stuff done without her crying the second I set her down-I got mine off ebay and purchased the infant insert

Boppy- Great for feeding and propping baby up after eating- mobile- sometimes I prop Scarlett up by her play mat, on the bed with me, and on the couch

Gas Drops!!!

Don’t bother with…
Baby powder- Nobody told me you can’t use it for the first 6-7 months- can cause respiratory problems

Receiving Blankets- the regular cute ones in the store…aren’t big enough to swaddle baby- not well anyway and are too big to use as burp cloths

Baby bedding sets- they can’t use the blanket anyway! Totally suggest cute fitted sheets and bumpers/breathable bumpers depending on your preference- Scarlett stares at her bumpers when she wakes up and they entertain her.  The bumpers are usually sold separate from the bedding set anyway, so pick a theme and pick your bumpers...should you choose to go that route.

Bath with sling-Just get the regular bath- we put Scarlett in the “newborn sling” and she hated that thing!

Gerber clothing- I find that their sizing runs very small and just am not that impressed with the mittens I have or the onesies...my opinion...If you choose to register for their burp cloths, I would do the flannel ones.
